About the event
Organisations have always relied on representations to understand people, customer segments, personas, survey responses, behavioural data, risk scores and predictive models.
AI is taking this much further.
Today, organisations can create synthetic customers, simulated audiences, AI personas and digital twins, while using increasingly sophisticated models to predict what people want, think and do.
But there is a critical question leaders need to ask:
When an AI-generated representation starts influencing a strategic decision, how closely does it actually resemble the person it claims to represent?
A predicted preference can start being treated as a customer need. A behavioural signal can start being interpreted as an intention. A synthetic response can make its way into a strategy presentation as evidence.
The more convincing these representations become, the easier it is to forget what they actually are — and what they are not.
In this session, Dr Cecilia Dones explores the journey from human experience → data → AI-generated inference → organisational action, and introduces the concept of the human remainder: the dimensions of human experience that sit outside the model.
Because what the model cannot see may be just as important as what it can.

What Guests Will Take Away
✅A clearer understanding of AI-generated representations — what synthetic customers, AI personas, digital twins and predictive models can and cannot tell you.
✅The Customer Mirror framework — a practical four-step approach: Reflect, Read, Respond, Reconnect, which can be applied to customer, employee and stakeholder intelligence.
✅A way to distinguish fact from inference — separating human experience, source data, model-generated inference and organisational interpretation.
✅Three questions to bring into every AI-supported decision:
– What can this representation help us understand?
– How will it shape our decisions?
– What does it invite us to discover next?
✅A sharper way to evaluate AI proxies using three tests: fidelity, purpose and consequence.
✅A richer approach to understanding people that combines AI and computational inference with quantitative evidence, qualitative research and direct human engagement.
